Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS)
Slag is a steel by-product coming from the blast furnace and its potential production is directly proportional to the production of pig iron in the plant.
Blast furnace slag is one of the most versatile products used in construction. Crushed and screened to required gradations, blast furnace slag is the preferred aggregate where its unique qualities assure highest performance:
 |
Maximum Durability |
| Higher Fire-Resistance |
| Higher Strength |
| Better Insulation |
| Extreme Hardness |
| Lighter Weight |
| Skid Resistance |
Further to a reduction of output according to the standard ISO14001 and on taxes on air emission (SO2, NOx, CO2), gbfs use offers low costs for blended products, processing addition and kiln feed with economic advantages in direct clinker replacement.
Ecotrade takes care of the seaborne surplus of gbfs not required locally. This means that slag surplus depends on the domestic cement consumption and production of pig iron at the moment.
On this basis, the availability of seaborne slag, depends on many variables factors (local demand, pig iron production, new granulators, etc…).
To handle the availability of seaborne slag on the market requires a complete awareness of the current needs of the steelworks and capability to react accordingly.
Ecotrade has exclusive agreements with the Steel Plants in order to lift the whole quantity of material locally unsold.
